Does the TL-2 have different models?

In addition to customizing features and specs, Haas Automation builds other machines around the same toolroom design:

  • Haas TL-1 is the shorter machine in the same family, with 30″ between centers in place of 48″, and a 2″ bar capacity in place of 3″.
  • Haas TL-2P is the production toolroom lathe, built with a 6.5″ chuck for repeat work rather than one-off toolroom jobs.
  • Haas ST series are the full production turret lathes, which is where a shop usually goes once it has outgrown hand-loading a toolroom machine.

When considering a used Haas TL-2, length is what separates it from a TL-1, but workholding is what separates two otherwise similar TL-2s. The optional 10″ chuck is on more of the machines we have handled than the standard 8″ is, and whether a tailstock and a four-position tool post came with the machine changes what it can do without an operator standing at it.
