Does the DM-2 have different models?

In addition to customizing features and specs, Haas Automation offers other machines in the drill and mill range:

  • Haas DM-1 is the shorter machine, identical in construction but with 8″ less travel in X.
  • Haas DT-1 and DT-2 are the 30-taper drill and tap machines. The lighter BT-30 spindle changes tools faster; the 40-taper DM takes the heavier cut.
  • Haas VF-2 is the general-purpose 40-taper vertical machining center at a similar table size, built for cutting rather than for speed between holes.

When considering a used Haas DM-2, the machine is bought for speed in a 40-taper package, and on the used market that is nearly always what you get: almost every one we have handled runs the 15,000 RPM spindle rather than the slower option. Through-spindle coolant at 300 psi is the option worth confirming, because it appears on a good share of the machines we see and it is expensive to add afterwards. Fourth-axis wiring is common too, and is worth having even if no rotary table comes with the machine.
