Does the DT-1 have different models?
In addition to customizing features and specs, Haas Automation offers other machines in the drill and tap range:
- Haas DT-2 is the longer machine in the same 30-taper format, with 28″ of X travel in place of 20″.
- Haas DM-1 and DM-2 are the drill and mill machines, built on the same design but with a 40-taper spindle and an 18-pocket tool changer for heavier cutting.
- Haas VF-2 is the 40-taper vertical machining center at a similar footprint. It takes heavier cuts, and it will not change tools anywhere near as fast.
When considering a used Haas DT-1, spindle speed is the specification to read, because Haas raised it during the machine’s production life. The machines we have handled, built between 2010 and 2020, run at 15,000, 12,000 and 10,000 RPM, and the split is close enough that two DT-1s of similar year and similar asking price can be a third apart on spindle speed. On a drill and tap machine that is most of what you are buying.
