Does the ST-35 have different models?
In addition to customizing features and specs, Haas Automation offers ST-35 models built with some of the upgraded features referenced above:
- Haas ST-35Y adds the Y axis and live tooling, so the machine mills and drills off centerline instead of only turning.
- Haas ST-35L and ST-35LY are the long-bed machines, for work that will not fit between centers on a standard bed.
- Haas ST-30 and ST-40 sit either side of the 35 in the range.
When considering a used Haas ST-35, the Y axis is the specification that most often separates two otherwise similar machines. On the used market the Y-axis version is the more common of the two, and most of the machines we see carry C-axis live tooling, so the question is usually whether the one in front of you is the plainer machine rather than whether it has the option. Bed length is worth reading too, since distance between centers runs from 23″ on most of them out to 32.5″ on the long-bed machines.
