Selling a vertical machining center?
KD Machinery buys used vertical machining centers outright. Tell us what you have and how to reach you, and we will get back to you. The make and model are enough to start.
How it works and what we buy: Sell your used vertical machining center.
KD Machinery buys single machines, and whole shops and plants, outright. Auction-based plant liquidations and formal USPAP appraisals are handled by KD Auctions: see plant liquidation by auction and USPAP appraisals.
What we have listed CNC Vertical Machining Centers at
Across 1,685 CNC Vertical Machining Centers we have listed with a published price, the middle half ran from $29,500 to $95,500, with a median of $54,500. A quarter were listed below that band and a quarter above it. These are the prices we asked, not what any machine changed hands for — condition, hours, tooling and control generation move a machine within it. Ask us where a specific one sits.
Before you buy
Which one fits the work?
Two things decide it: your budget, and the size of the parts you are making.
Getting one inspected
We always strongly recommend an inspection before you buy. KD does not perform it ourselves — the inspection is done by you, by a third-party technician, or by the OEM.
We have a network of 3rd party techs whom we can recommend. Most buyers are looking at a machine in another state or across the country, and sending a tech who is already nearby saves the travel time and cost of going to see it yourself.
An inspection on a machining center goes through the major components: the tool changer, the guides, the way covers, drawbar pressure, motion in all axes, and the spindle running at both low and high rpm.
Spindle hours are worth confirming rather than taking from a listing, because an hours meter can be reset. A high-hour machine that has been maintained regularly is a lot better than a lower-hour machine that has been neglected.
Buy the options from the factory
We would not recommend buying a machine and adding options later. It is very expensive to do so if it did not come out of the factory with those options.
A 4th or 5th axis is the exception, and the only option worth adding afterwards. Everything else is either not easy to do, not possible at all, or would simply cost more than it is worth.
Questions buyers ask
Which builder makes up most of the used vertical machining centers KD handles?
Haas, by a wide margin. As of September 2026, 322 of the 526 vertical machining centers KD Machinery has sold were Haas. Doosan is the next most common at 37, then Fadal at 23.
How old are the used vertical machining centers KD has in stock?
They span nearly four decades. As of September 2026 the 169 vertical machining centers KD Machinery has available were built between 1987 and 2025, so build year is worth checking on any specific machine.
