The EDG3 is a hybrid machine that combines electrical discharge erosion with grinding on one spindle, so solid-tipped PCD cutting tools can be produced and resharpened in a single setup. The spindle runs to 12,000 RPM and takes grinding wheels up to 8″, with a maximum workpiece diameter of 8.75″ and a maximum workpiece length of 11″. It is equipped with an ANCA Motion SparX generator, a hybrid-machining erosion and grinding spindle, a 2 wheel pack changer, linear scales on the X and Y axes, and dedicated ToolRoom EDG erosion application software, optimized for solid-tipped PCD helical endmills and drills.
