Before you buy
The pump is the machine
Do a minor pump rebuild when you get the pump. That way you start tracking the hours yourself and get a good idea of the intervals between rebuilds.
Hours on pumps are highly unreliable, but even pumps with over 10,000 hours are still good pumps, because by that time most big ticket items have most likely already been replaced.
What looks bad, and what is bad
Dirty tanks and slats are part of owning a waterjet. Slats in particular are maintenance items and need to be replaced periodically.
The cutting head, orifice and mixing tube are maintenance items too, with an hourly lifespan that depends on what you buy. A diamond jewel will last hundreds of hours, where a ruby or sapphire jewel will only last 20 to 40.
Getting one inspected
We always strongly recommend an inspection before you buy. KD does not perform it ourselves — the inspection is done by you, by a third-party technician, or by the OEM.
We have a network of 3rd party techs whom we can recommend. Most buyers are looking at a machine in another state or across the country, and sending a tech who is already nearby saves the travel time and cost of going to see it yourself.
Clear title
KD runs lien searches on every transaction so that our buyers can have peace of mind that they are purchasing an asset that does not have any active liens on it. We take this very seriously and are willing to pass up a deal if the seller won't cooperate on getting active liens cleared.
